The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Grubaneiro sprawls well. Grubaneiro wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maynard gets slowly back to his feet.
Maynard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Grubaneiro circles away.
Maynard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Grubaneiro looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Grubaneiro fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Maynard looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Grubaneiro thuds a left hand into Maynard's body.

Grubaneiro works the jab nicely.
Maynard is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Grubaneiro has cracked Maynard with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Grubaneiro lands another huge swinging hook and Maynard tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Maynard, before Grubaneiro can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Giro Grubaneiro!
