Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hilario Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor O Belfort!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Solis shoots in and gets a takedown into Belfort's guard.
Belfort looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Solis makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Solis looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Solis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Solis stands and steps away. Belfort gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Belfort drives through with a takedown into guard.
Belfort trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Solis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Belfort gets caught flat footed, as Solis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Solis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Solis gets to his feet - Belfort follows without any prompting.

Solis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Vitor O Belfort seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Belfort manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Solis on his heels. He'll look to pass Solis's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Solis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Belfort is controlling him.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Solis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Belfort sprawls well initially but Solis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Belfort has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA Rio. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Solis connects with a nice short shot to Belfort's temple.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Belfort is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Solis is controlling him.
Solis wants to stand but Belfort has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Solis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Belfort has his foot on Solis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Solis works his way back into a safe position though.
Solis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Belfort is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Belfort can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Solis controls the pace.

Solis is in close to Belfort's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Solis stands and steps away. Belfort gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Belfort throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Solis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Belfort shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Solis's guard.
Solis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Solis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Solis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Belfort for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hilario Solis wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Solis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Belfort circles away.

Solis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Solis showed some decent athleticism there.
Solis slips a nice elbow through Belfort's hands, connecting with Belfort's forehead.
Solis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Solis in particular looking to stall.
