PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wyatt Jarvis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Five Dolla Nigga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wyatt Jarvis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Five Dolla Nigga !
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nigga closes the distance and pushes Jarvis back into the cage.

Nigga has picked Jarvis up - he's going for a ride! Nigga dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Nigga decides to stand and escape the position.

Nigga manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jarvis on his heels. He'll look to pass Jarvis's guard now, I'm sure.

Jarvis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Nigga wants to get up but he can't break Jarvis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jarvis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nigga is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nigga wants to control from the top but Jarvis keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jarvis shoots for a takedown but Nigga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jarvis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Nigga manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Nigga wants to get back to his feet.
Jarvis is thwarting Nigga 's attempts to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nigga moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Nigga wants to sweep here but Jarvis controlling him for the moment.
Jarvis wants to control from the top but Nigga keeps moving.

Nigga working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jarvis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jarvis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jarvis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nigga pulls Jarvis in to control the position.

Jarvis is looking to work some ground and pound but Nigga has wrist control.
Nigga thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Nigga looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jarvis is one step ahead there.
Jarvis wants to control from the top but Nigga keeps moving.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Wyatt Jarvis just wasn't active enough.

Nigga looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nigga takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jarvis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nigga stops Jarvis from getting back to his feet.
Nigga keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Nigga is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Five Dolla Nigga was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Nigga rushes Jarvis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jarvis is trying to break free.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Jarvis lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Nigga or not.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Five Dolla Nigga dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A looping hook to the body misses from Jarvis. Nigga does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nigga misses with a body kick.
Jarvis staying out of range there.

Nigga closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jarvis's guard.
Jarvis throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Nigga is looking to stand up but Jarvis won't let him.
Jarvis keeping moving, preventing Nigga from controlling successfully.

Nigga postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jarvis is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nigga , into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jarvis is working Nigga over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Nigga is pulling down on Jarvis's head to control his posture.
Jarvis postures up.
Jarvis stays in close to Nigga 's body and controls the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nigga is on top in guard.
Nigga landing some decent shots from guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nigga in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Nigga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jarvis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nigga wants to stand but Jarvis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Nigga controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Five Dolla Nigga hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Nigga gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Nigga jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jarvis walks away with a smile on his face. Nigga gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nice sprawl there from Jarvis as Nigga shoots in.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nigga .
Nigga tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nigga misses with the ground and pound.
Nigga tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Five Dolla Nigga has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nigga sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jarvis is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Nigga really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jarvis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nigga wants to stand but Jarvis has his arm trapped.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nigga works to advance to full mount. Jarvis defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Five Dolla Nigga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Jarvis shoots in and bounces Nigga off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Nigga throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Nigga tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jarvis trying to control the position from guard on top but Nigga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nigga is controlling Jarvis's posture.

Nigga throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jarvis escapes and throws Nigga 's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Nigga tries to improve position but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nigga can't do much from the bottom here.
Jarvis is looking to take a break and control but Nigga is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jarvis working the ground and pound.
Jarvis content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jarvis working away.
Nigga is trying to improve his position.
Jarvis slows the pace down.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Nigga feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Nigga should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jarvis looking to control.
Nigga must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jarvis looking to control but Nigga passes into half guard.
Nigga performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Nigga wants to free his trapped foot but Jarvis is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Nigga not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Jarvis tries to kick Nigga off but Nigga keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Nigga wants to stand up but Jarvis is controlling the position.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Five Dolla Nigga has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Nigga misses with a takedown attempt
and Jarvis counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Nigga thinking.
Five Dolla Nigga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Nigga throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nigga gets a double leg takedown into Jarvis's guard.
Wyatt Jarvis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Five Dolla Nigga is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Five Dolla Nigga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nigga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
