Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Reinaldo Aruba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Octavio Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Octavio Ramos has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Reinaldo Aruba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Octavio Ramos!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Ramos. No joy for Aruba on that attempt.
Ramos fails to land with a series of punches.
Ramos tries to close the distance and clinch but Aruba swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Aruba misses with a takedown attempt - Ramos sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ramos misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Ramos wants to clinch but Aruba slips to the side

and Aruba counters by moving into the clinch.
Aruba is working for takedown but Ramos is calmly controlling the position for now.

Aruba really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ramos lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Aruba is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ramos gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Aruba has hold of one of Ramos's legs. Ramos is fighting the takedown attempt but Aruba gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ramos is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ramos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Aruba makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Aruba.
Aruba keeping moving, preventing Ramos from controlling successfully.

Aruba working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ramos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ramos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ramos gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Ramos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Aruba avoids it really well and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Aruba.
Octavio Ramos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aruba swats away the attempt to clinch by Ramos.
No luck for Ramos with that takedown attempt.

Ramos gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Aruba counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ramos won't be happy with that.

Aruba wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ramos, who protects the arm well.
Aruba sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ramos is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Aruba swings around for an armbar but Ramos sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Aruba's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ramos stands and steps away. Aruba gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ramos is defended easily by Aruba.
Ramos lands with a good body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Reinaldo Aruba will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ramos scores with a jab to the body.
Ramos paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Ramos misses with the combination.

Ramos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ramos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Aruba does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aruba slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aruba looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ramos avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Aruba had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ramos defends it easily.
Ramos wants to stand but Aruba is controlling his posture from full guard.

Aruba will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ramos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Aruba is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ramos wants to get up but he can't break Aruba's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Aruba is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Ramos frees his head nicely. Oh but Aruba has switched to an armbar! Ramos is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
