PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ric Borden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iivari Uhri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uhri has chosen Klamydia - Mä en tahdo tänään lyödä sua as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Iivari Uhri acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ric Borden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Iivari Uhri!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borden wants to clinch up but Uhri keeps it at a distance.

Borden rushes Uhri and presses him up against the cage.
Uhri looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Uhri manages to break the clinch.
Borden tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Uhri paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Uhri finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

and Borden counters by clinching up.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Uhri bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Borden's guard.

Borden tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Uhri wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Borden is not content to let Uhri control the position.
Uhri tries to advance to mount but Borden denies him.

Borden tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Borden is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Borden has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Uhri breaks from Borden's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Uhri is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Borden is surviving well by controlling Uhri's body position as best he can.

Uhri throws a strike there. Borden manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Borden has Uhri pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Uhri is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Borden - that's hurt Uhri badly! Oh, another knee lands and Uhri is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Uhri doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Ric Borden!
Iivari Uhri was interviewed post fight and said 'Terve ja morjens.. kylläpä men päin p******ä!'.
