Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kix Rus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Lowrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lowrey fails in his attempt to clinch.

Lowrey darts in and clinches Rus up against the ropes.
Rus connects with a nasty looking knee right to Lowrey's face.
Rus with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Lowrey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice sprawl there from Rus as Lowrey shoots in.

Lowrey shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rus's guard.
Rus pulls Lowrey in close to his closed guard and prevents Lowrey from doing any damage or advancing position.

Rus looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lowrey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rus controls Lowrey momentarily but Lowrey frees himself.

Rus has his foot on Lowrey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lowrey works his way back into a safe position though.
Rus looking for a sweep. Not yet Rus, not yet.

Rus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lowrey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lowrey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rus is breathing heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lowrey tries to clinch up but Rus circles away and keeps his distance.
Lowrey fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rus really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lowrey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kix Rus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Lowrey.
Rus fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lowrey.

Rus stuffs the takedown attempt from Lowrey. Lowrey gets slowly back to his feet.

Rus wants to clinch up but Lowrey keeps it at a distance.
Lowrey tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lowrey shoots in and drives through. Rus sprawls well.

Mike Lowrey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rus wants to stand but Lowrey is controlling the position.
Rus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rus has hold of Lowrey's hands but Lowrey slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lowrey looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Rus tries to get to full guard but Lowrey has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lowrey fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lowrey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lowrey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lowrey feints and as Rus raises his hands in defense, Lowrey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lowrey trying to control the position from guard on top but Rus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rus controls Lowrey momentarily but Lowrey frees himself.
Lowrey wants to stand but Rus has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Lowrey distracts Rus with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Lowrey tries to free his leg and advance position but Rus is retaining full guard.
Lowrey makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Rus looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
