The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Falcon misses the body punch
and Ruiz counters with a left and a right that stings Falcon.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ruiz enables Falcon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ruiz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ruiz wants to get back to his feet but Falcon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Falcon lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Ruiz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Falcon throws a big elbow that misses.
Falcon advances position into side control!
Ruiz manages to work his way to half guard, despite Falcon's best efforts.
Ruiz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ruiz is trying to maintain the position but Falcon is very close to passing his half guard.

Falcon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ruiz's head.
Falcon lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

It looks like Humberto Ruiz has been cut.
Falcon slips a nice elbow through Ruiz's hands, connecting with Ruiz's forehead.
