The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuzmejniev is looking to land body kicks.

Sanchez swings around for an armbar but Kuzmejniev sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sanchez's guard.

Sanchez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kuzmejniev controls the pace.
Sanchez wants to hit a switch here but Kuzmejniev passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sanchez there!

Sanchez needs to keep his hands up - Kuzmejniev had a free shot at his head there.
Sanchez takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Kuzmejniev uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sanchez.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kuzmejniev here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez looks to land a strike but Kuzmejniev avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Sanchez happy to just control the position for now.
Kuzmejniev regains half guard there - taking advantage of Sanchez's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Sanchez is looking to advance position but Kuzmejniev won't allow it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sanchez lands a nice short elbow.
