And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Demetrious Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Hawk shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Johnson on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hawk will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Johnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Some wild striking there from Hawk.
Hawk connects with a right hand. Johnson shakes it off.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hawk pinned against the cage. Hawk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Johnson wants to clinch up but Hawk keeps it at a distance.
Nice sprawl there from Hawk as Johnson shoots in.

Johnson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hawk to score with a decent uppercut.

Hawk is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

A frustrated look appears on Hawk's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hawk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Johnson has a closed guard, preventing Hawk from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hawk lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnson backs up against the cage.

Johnson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Hawk misses with a low kick as Johnson jumps back.
Johnson lands a nice looking body shot.
Hawk scores with a jab to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hawk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johnson.
Johnson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hawk misses with a double jab

and Johnson counters by clinching up.
A frustrated look appears on Hawk's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hawk is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hawk misses with the combination.
Hawk shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Johnson eats them both and turns towards Hawk to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Hawk dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hawk throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.
Johnson looks to score with a jab to the body but Hawk is just out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Hawk. Those never looked like landing.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hawk.
Johnson dives in for a single leg takedown but Hawk sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hawk is trying to break the clinch but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.

Hawk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Johnson wants to get back to his feet.

Johnson keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Hawk wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling the position.

Johnson kicks off Hawk and gets to his feet.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hawk sprawls well. Hawk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hawk tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hawk to the ground. Hawk escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Daniel Hawk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demetrious Johnson.
Johnson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hawk finds it's way round the side to connect with Johnson's head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hawk walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Johnson drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Hawk swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Johnson's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Hawk!
