Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Phil Willian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mariusz Kolonko!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolonko swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kolonko slaps away a takedown attempt from Willian, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Willian shoots in for a double leg but Kolonko sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Willian will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Willian. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kolonko throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kolonko doesn't manage to clinch there - Willian circles away.
Willian closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kolonko to the mat! Kolonko manages to get full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kolonko is working an open guard so Willian takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Willian closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Willian lands in his opponent's guard.
Willian won't allow Kolonko to sweep him here.
Kolonko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Willian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Willian postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kolonko wants to stand but Willian is controlling the position.
Willian sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Willian stopping the sweep attempt from Kolonko.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kolonko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Willian defends well.
Kolonko throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Willian decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kolonko, up you get!
Willian drives through with a takedown into Kolonko's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Willian slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kolonko wants to improve his position here. There's a bit of a scramble and Willian has taken Kolonko's back! He's locked on a rear naked choke here and Kolonko has been forced to tap!
