Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Tharis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shamil Basayev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamil Basayev will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tharis wants to clinch up but Basayev keeps it at a distance.
Basayev thows a body shot but no joy.
Basayev uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tharis.
Tharis has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Tharis looks to clinch
letting Basayev counter with a right hand.
Tharis moves out of range of the strikes.
Basayev scores with a shot to the body.
Tharis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Basayev closes the distance and clinches.

Still in the clinch, Basayev scores with a nice short uppercut.

Basayev presses Tharis against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Tharis is trying to break the clinch but Basayev is controlling him.

Basayev lands with a left to the head.
Basayev tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tharis's elbow.
Basayev throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Tharis is breathing heavily.

Basayev drops Tharis onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Tharis is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Basayev lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Tharis backwards.

Tharis is rocked!
Basayev creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Tharis with a big uppercut! Tharis tries to clinch up but Basayev pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Tharis to the mat! Tharis covers up and Basayev unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
