Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Briggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Briggs works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Briggs comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Sanchez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Briggs counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
James Briggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Briggs swings for the body but Sanchez moves out of range.

Sanchez has Briggs up against the cage in a clinch.
Sanchez tries for a takedown but Briggs manages to get underhooks.

Briggs gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Briggs looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Sanchez trying to control from the bottom.
Sanchez is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sanchez manages to get to full guard.

Sanchez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Briggs works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Sanchez missing with punches from the bottom.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Briggs wants to pass to mount but Sanchez is defending the position.
Briggs is thwarting Sanchez's attempts to control the position.
Briggs stalling.
Ground and pound from Briggs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez trying to control from the bottom.
Briggs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanchez keeps working.
Briggs misses with a head shot. Sanchez uses the momentum to regain guard.
Sanchez keeping moving, preventing Briggs from controlling successfully.
Sanchez is trying to control the position but Briggs postures up.
Briggs passes Sanchez's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Briggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.
Briggs seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sanchez is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Briggs lands strikes from half guard.
Briggs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sanchez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Briggs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sanchez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Briggs has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Briggs lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Sanchez is looking to improve his position but Briggs isn't that keen on the idea.
Sanchez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Briggs working the ground and pound effectively.


Sanchez is rocked!
Briggs looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Sanchez covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
