PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Kendrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baki Hanma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hanma is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by B-Complex - Beautiful Lies. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Kendrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Baki Hanma!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanma misses with a shot to the body

and Kendrick counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Kendrick gets to his feet - Hanma follows without any prompting.
Hanma is looking to clinch.
Hanma should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Hanma rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kendrick counters with a three punch combo that has Hanma backing up. Hanma nods at Kendrick to acknowledge the strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kendrick fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kendrick moves away from the strike by Hanma.
Hanma tries to clinch up.
Kendrick looks for a takedown but Hanma sprawls well.
Kendrick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hanma paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hanma throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kendrick counters with a left and a right that stings Hanma.

Kendrick moves into the clinch.
Hanma lands a left hand that snaps the head of Kendrick backwards.
Hanma misses with some punches.

Kendrick successfully pulls guard.
Kendrick has control of Hanma's left arm, preventing Hanma from doing any damage.
Kendrick wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hanma being controlled here momentarily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kendrick is on top in guard.
Kendrick pushes down on Hanma's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kendrick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kendrick passes to side control.
Kendrick is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kendrick has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Kendrick stands up and beckons Hanma to his feet.
Hanma pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kendrick shoots in and drives through. Hanma sprawls well.
Kendrick fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hanma looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Hanma looks winded!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kendrick tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hanma defends well and Kendrick ends up having to push Hanma into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Kendrick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hanma has a couple of punches blocked by Kendrick.
Kendrick blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hanma throws a punch but it's blocked by Kendrick.
Kendrick is looking to break free of the clinch but Hanma has double underhooks.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hanma.
Hanma throws a punch but it's blocked by Kendrick.
Hanma makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kendrick has had enough of the clinch but Hanma keeps him there for the moment.
Hanma swings wildly with an uppercut but Kendrick uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kendrick jumps guard.
Kendrick seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Kendrick is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Hanma frees his head nicely. Oh but Kendrick has switched to an armbar! Hanma is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
