Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maxim Girard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David McDonald is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald tries to close the distance and clinch up but Girard swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Girard moves out of range as McDonald strikes.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Girard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
McDonald sneaks back into half guard.
McDonald looking for a kimura from the bottom but Girard passes into side control!
McDonald is trying to get back to half guard.
Girard throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
McDonald is looking to reverse the position.
Girard is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down McDonald's shoulder. That is not cool.
McDonald tries to get back to half guard but can't.
McDonald is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Girard off and has taken his back!

Girard manages to reverse the position and now he's in McDonald's guard. Nice work there by Girard.

McDonald tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Girard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Girard thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Girard takes a little break here. McDonald wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald tries to buck Girard off but Girard is having none of it.

McDonald is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Girard's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Girard takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
McDonald is trying to get back to full guard.
Girard sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McDonald defending well though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Girard is figuring out what he wants to do next.
McDonald tries to get to full guard but Girard has control of the leg.
McDonald is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Girard pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Maxim Girard will probably get the nod.

Girard connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McDonald momentarily.
McDonald wants to clinch
and Girard counters with a series of strikes. McDonald will be more careful next time no doubt.
McDonald misses with a takedown attempt - Girard sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Girard closes the distance and pushes McDonald back into the cage.
McDonald scores with a shoulder strike.
McDonald throws a head punch that misses.
McDonald tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Girard avoids it.
McDonald jumps guard but Girard stands there with McDonald around his waist. McDonald gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McDonald trying to stall but Girard improves his position.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
McDonald is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Maxim Girard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David McDonald.

Girard jumps into guard, dragging McDonald to the mat.
Girard looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
McDonald postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Girard is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McDonald, into his guard.
McDonald escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Girard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Girard controlling from the top position.

Girard has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Girard tries to free his leg and advance position but McDonald is retaining full guard.
Girard sitting in guard here, content to control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Maxim Girard.
McDonald closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Girard manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Girard connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Girard throws a head kick but McDonald moves out of range.
Girard gets a clinch.
Girard avoiding damage as McDonald throws knees to the body.
Girard is struggling to control the position.
McDonald jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Girard walks away with a smile on his face. McDonald gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Girard darts in and clinches McDonald up against the cage.
Girard wants the takedown. McDonald is fighting it off but Girard persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in McDonald's guard against the cage.
McDonald utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Girard has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing McDonald to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Girard is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - McDonald pulls down on the head and he's put Girard to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). David McDonald!
David McDonald seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
