And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Charleston!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Charleston darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Collins looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Charleston is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Charleston moves into the clinch.
Charleston tries a knee to the head but Collins blocks it.
Charleston is defending well against a takedown attempt.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Charleston is fighting off a takedown attempt but Collins is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Charleston to the mat. Charleston regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Collins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Collins looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Collins wants to stand and escape but instead Charleston has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Charleston loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Collins scores with a short punch from the bottom.
Charleston won't allow Collins to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charleston postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Collins has momentary wrist control but Charleston slips an elbow through the middle.


It looks like Ellsworth Collins has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Charleston gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Charleston tries to clinch but Collins moves out of range.

Charleston pushes Collins up against the cage in a clinch.

Charleston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Charleston is looking to clinch but Collins is avoiding it.
Charleston shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Collins defends it nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Charleston shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Collins as he avoids it easily.
Charleston misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Charleston throws a head kick that misses.

Charleston moves into range and clinches up with Collins.
Collins is trying to pull guard but Charleston has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ellsworth Collins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Charleston misses with a knee strike.

Charleston throws a knee to the head but misses.

Charleston's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Collins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Charleston looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Collins is fending him off so far but Charleston persists. Nope, Collins circles away and we're back to standing.
Charleston tries to clinch but Collins moves out of range.
Collins closes the distance but Charleston moves to the side

and Charleston counters with a head kick that drops Collins to the mat! Collins scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Charleston gets a clinch.
Oh Collins is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Charleston with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Charleston using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Collins has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Clinched against the cage, Charleston lands a big elbow that drops Collins! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Collins is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Charleston!
