Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eldon Herring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Cain Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eldon Herring!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Cain Santos!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herring displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Santos.
Santos lands with a kick to the temple. Herring shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Eldon Herring has been cut.
Herring looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Herring tries to score a power double leg takedown but Santos sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Herring somewhat.
Nice takedown defense from Herring. No joy for Santos on that attempt.

Herring tries to keep at a distance but Santos has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Herring is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eldon Herring. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Santos has hold of one of Herring's legs. Herring is fighting the takedown attempt but Santos gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Herring is trying to control the position but Santos postures up.

Santos passes Herring's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Herring is just riding it out for now. Santos eventually gives up the hold.

Santos working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Herring is not content to let Santos control the position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Santos lands a nice short elbow.

Santos content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Santos seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Santos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Herring might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Santos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Herring keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Junior Cain Santos.
Santos keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Santos fails with the takedown.
Santos slaps away a takedown attempt from Herring, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Junior Cain Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Herring is looking to clinch.

Santos moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Herring wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Santos has him pressed against the cage.

Santos has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Herring is trying to keep an underhook but Santos manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Santos is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Herring wants to improve his position but Santos is controlling well.

Santos escapes and gets back to his feet.

Santos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Santos lands a body punch in the clinch.
Santos tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Herring just stands there and leans against the cage.
Santos lands a nice shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Santos goes for a takedown in the clinch but Herring prevents it.
Eldon Herring has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Cain Santos.

Santos turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Herring is letting Santos control him for a moment.
Santos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Herring tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Santos easily slips into full mount!

Santos has control of Herring's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Herring regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Santos is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Herring has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Herring!

Santos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Herring working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Santos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Herring is one step ahead there.
Santos lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Herring!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Santos cracks Herring with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Cain Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Santos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Herring avoids it really well and circles away.

Eldon Herring has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Cain Santos.

Herring has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Santos clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
You can see the frustration on Santos's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Herring could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Santos is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Santos has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Herring.

Herring is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Santos has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Herring is looking for the choke from the back position but Santos is controlling his hands well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Santos trying to control but not successfully.
Santos rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Santos blocking the ground and pound attempt from Herring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santos keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Herring is working for a submission of some sort.

Herring is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Santos has managed to free his arm - good work.
Santos is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Herring's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Herring's back!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Santos controls the action.

Herring is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Santos gets his way!
Santos thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Santos lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Herring just trying to survive but Santos is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Junior Cain Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
