Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leroy Mckenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mckenzie with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Velasquez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mckenzie sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Velasquez somewhat.

Velasquez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Well, if Velasquez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Leroy Mckenzie just wasn't active enough.

Velasquez closes the distance and clinches up with Mckenzie, looking for a takedown. Velasquez pushes Mckenzie against the cage but Mckenzie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Velasquez has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Mckenzie works to full guard.

Velasquez wanted to stand there but Mckenzie had control of the position.
Velasquez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mckenzie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cain Velasquez wasn't active enough on the ground.
Velasquez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mckenzie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Velasquez swats away the attempt to clinch by Mckenzie.

Mckenzie dives in and grabs Velasquez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Velasquez pushes down on Mckenzie's head and hops out.

and Mckenzie counters with a nice body kick.

Mckenzie forces Velasquez back against the cage and clinches.
Mckenzie throws a head punch that misses.

Velasquez on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Velasquez trying to stall but Mckenzie improves his position.

Cain Velasquez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Velasquez takes the fight into the clinch.

Velasquez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Leroy Mckenzie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mckenzie is trying to push Velasquez away but Velasquez has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Mckenzie tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Velasquez smiles and moves away.

Velasquez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mckenzie is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Velasquez gets to his feet - Mckenzie follows without any prompting.
Mckenzie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Velasquez swivels and escapes.

Velasquez is just content to waste time from the top position. Mckenzie takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
