PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noongar Fella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fella comes to the cage accompanied by The Monster. Wyatt comes into a darkened arena with his song building. ''Broken Out In Love'' kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Noongar Fella!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Wyatt!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fella tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wyatt paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Fella closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fella lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fella trying to control the position from guard on top but Wyatt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Noongar Fella wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Wyatt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fella looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Wyatt wants to control but Fella is keeping him busy.

Wyatt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fella has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fella is looking for a sweep.
Wyatt wants to control but Fella is keeping him busy.
Fella can't do much from the bottom here.
Fella sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Wyatt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Fella is looking for a sweep. Wyatt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fella wants to control but Wyatt is keeping busy.
Wyatt not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fella wants to get back to his feet.
Fella trying to hold on to Wyatt's head to control him but Wyatt postures up.
Wyatt trying to mount his opponent but Fella defends it.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fella avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wyatt.
Fella is refusing to be controlled, as Wyatt sits in half guard.
Fella makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fella.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fella has his foot on Wyatt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wyatt works his way back into a safe position though.

Fella keeping moving, preventing Wyatt from controlling successfully.

Fella looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wyatt throws a big right hand that misses.
Wyatt postures up in Fella's guard and throws a big left but Fella blocks it.

Wyatt has gone for a leg lock! Fella slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wyatt's guard.

Wyatt has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Fella is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Wyatt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wyatt is trying to control Fella's posture but Fella avoids it.
Fella tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Fella moves into full mount!
Wyatt tries to hold on but Fella pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wyatt doing his best to control the position. Can he escape?
Fella unloads with some shots from mount but Wyatt bucks and avoids them well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Noongar Fella will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fella defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wyatt.
Wyatt tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fella defends well and Wyatt ends up having to push Fella into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Wyatt has clasped his hands together around Fella's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Wyatt swings around for an armbar but Fella sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wyatt's guard.

Wyatt is looking for a triangle here but Fella uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Fella tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wyatt struggling a bit here.
Fella wants to take a breather but Wyatt manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Fella.

Wyatt keeping moving, preventing Fella from controlling successfully.
Noongar Fella overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fella passes Wyatt's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fella is trying to control the action in half guard but Wyatt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Fella wants to free his trapped foot but Wyatt is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wyatt trying to control but Fella postures up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Wyatt might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fella haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Wyatt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fella was covering up waiting for the punch and Wyatt finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wyatt is looking to work some ground and pound but Fella has wrist control.

Wyatt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fella swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wyatt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wyatt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Wyatt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Wyatt is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Fella looks calm but he's in trouble here. Wyatt gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Fella is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Wyatt lets go of the hold and Fella can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Wyatt!
During a confident post fight interview, John Wyatt thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
