PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tush Bush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frederick Mayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tush Bush!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bush moves out of range of the leg kick from Mayer.
Mayer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bush scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mayer is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bush has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Bush tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bush has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mayer is trying to improve his position.
Mayer is trying to buck Bush off.
Bush takes a little break here. Mayer wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Bush scores with punches from side control.
Bush controls the position from side control.
Mayer is trying to control Bush's posture but Bush avoids it.

Mayer is trying to get back to his feet.
Bush wants to stand but Mayer has his arm trapped.
Mayer wants to get back to his feet but Bush is dominant here and he's now got Mayer's back!

Mayer showing good submission defense here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mayer defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Bush's arms.
Bush has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Mayer's body.
Mayer is trying to get back to his feet but Bush has full control of the position and if anything, Mayer has just worked his way into a worse spot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mayer wants to escape the position.
Mayer is breathing heavily.
Bush just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Bush has Mayer flattened out and is raining down punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bush working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Bush biding his time, controlling Mayer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bush's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bush landing with strikes.

Bush tightening his grip on Mayer, looking for the choke.
Mayer holding both Bush 's hands and preventing any damage.
Bush controls the action.

Bush looking for the RNC.
Mayer is really stuck here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mayer is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Bush off. It looks like it's working - Bush slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Mayer displaying calm under pressure there.

Bush throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mayer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bush is in Mayer's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bush pushing down on Mayer's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Bush wants to stand up but Mayer is controlling the position.
Mayer wants to get back to his feet.
Mayer scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Bush manages to mount him!
Bush lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mayer tries to lock up and control but Bush gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bush looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tush Bush dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Bush changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mayer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bush is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mayer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bush moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Bush tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mayer's legs.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bush thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mayer is pushing Bush's head away, looking to escape. Bush manages to hold on to the position though.
Bush creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Bush controlling from side mount.
Bush tries to advance to mount but can't.
Mayer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bush asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bush is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mayer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mayer tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mayer's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Bush unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Mayer wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Bush celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tush Bush!
