Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Monteban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georgio Socrates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Socrates has chosen Tool - Schism as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Monteban!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Georgio Socrates!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Socrates dives in for a single leg takedown but Monteban sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Socrates wants a takedown.

Socrates has hold of one of Monteban's legs. Monteban is fighting the takedown attempt but Socrates gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Socrates loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Socrates postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Socrates is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Monteban is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Monteban has escaped and now he's on top!

Monteban is looking for a sweep. Socrates is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Monteban regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Socrates.
Socrates is working Monteban over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Socrates drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Monteban manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Socrates has Monteban in his guard.

Socrates tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Monteban defends well and Socrates ends up having to push Monteban into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Socrates is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Monteban defends it well.

Socrates throws a strike but Monteban rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Socrates felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ricardo Monteban will probably get the nod.

Monteban looks to land a right hand but Socrates moved out of range.
Georgio Socrates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Socrates misses with a takedown

and Monteban counters with a nice double leg into side control. Socrates won't be happy with that.

Let's hope that Socrates has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ricardo Monteban.
I think Monteban has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
