Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Torr Lafayette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Jansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Torr Lafayette has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Torr Lafayette seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Jansen!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Lafayette with that takedown attempt.

Jansen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jansen slows the pace down in half guard.
Lafayette works his way to full guard. Good work.
Lafayette wants to get back to his feet but Jansen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lafayette looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jansen is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jansen gets to his feet. Lafayette looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jansen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Jansen throws a right and a left that both miss.

Jansen misses with a takedown attempt - Lafayette sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Torr Lafayette seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jansen misses with a jab, cross combination.
A punch combination from Jansen misses.
Lafayette throws a hook but Jansen blocks it.
Jansen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lafayette.
Lafayette tries a head kick but it misses.
Lafayette misses with a few strikes there.
Lafayette just misses with a punch to the body.
Good leg kick by Jansen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Lafayette is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Jansen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jansen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Jansen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lafayette off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jansen cracks Lafayette with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lafayette tries to hold on but Jansen pushes him away.
Jansen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

BOOM! Jansen connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lafayette really wants to buck Jansen off and get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jansen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Jansen dominated that round.
That's time! Lafayette's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lafayette fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lafayette throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jansen takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Lafayette throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jansen's waist but Jansen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lafayette off to one side.

and Jansen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jansen is controlling the pace.
Jansen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Lafayette is looking for a sweep. Jansen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jansen slows the pace down in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jansen is thwarting Lafayette's attempts to control the position.

Jansen wants to work for an arm triangle but Lafayette is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jansen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Jansen throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Lafayette has his hands clasped together but Jansen breaks the hold and Lafayette is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Jansen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mark Jansen!
