The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotton takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Bane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cotton looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bane throws a body punch but Cotton moves out of range.

Cotton gets the takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Roy Bane has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bane tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cotton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cotton throws an elbow but Bane slips to the side and avoids it well.
Bane is working to avoid the ground and pound but Cotton connects with a decent elbow.
Bane really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cotton tries to score with some ground and pound. Bane controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
