Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chet Linkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Shadow looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chet Linkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Shadow!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shadow stuns Linkin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Linkin shoots in for a takedown but Shadow shows good takedown defense.
Danga de danga de dang - Shadow scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Chet Linkin has been cut.
Shadow lands a jab-cross combination.
Shadow doesn't manage to clinch there - Linkin circles away.
Linkin fails to land the takedown.
Linkin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Linkin shoots in looking for a takedown. Shadow tries to sprawl out of it but Linkin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shadow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chet Linkin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Linkin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Shadow tries to clinch up but Linkin circles away and keeps his distance.

and Linkin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Shadow won't be happy with that.
Shadow manages to get back to half guard.
Shadow moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shadow had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Linkin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Shadow Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Linkin's back instead.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Linkin prevents Shadow from getting a body triangle.
Linkin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shadow on the ground.

Shadow is looking for the choke from the back position but Linkin is controlling his hands well.

Linkin rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Shadow is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Linkin wants to control but Shadow is keeping busy.

Shadow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Linkin is just riding it out for now. Shadow eventually gives up the hold.
Shadow thows a huge punch but Linkin dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Shadow lands with a nice combination. Linkin backs away looking to recover.

Linkin gets control of Shadow's arms and successfully pulls guard. Linkin will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shadow accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Linkin wants to sweep but no luck.
Shadow wants to control from the top but Linkin keeps moving.
Shadow is in close to Linkin's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Shadow passes Linkin's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Shadow works his foot free and advances to mount.

Linkin wants to hold on but Shadow pushes him away.

Shadow postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Linkin looks a forlorn figure.
Linkin is bucking up trying to escape but Shadow cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Shadow has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Shadow goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Linkin is on top in guard.

Joe Shadow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Linkin in particular looking to stall.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chet Linkin.
I think Shadow has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
