Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chauncey Villarreal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Crowe!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crowe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Crowe slips nicely into half guard.
Villarreal really is a fat lump.
Villarreal wants to improve his position but Crowe is controlling well.
Villarreal trying to control from the bottom.
Villarreal is trying to stand up here but Crowe is controlling him well.

Villarreal has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Crowe is on him like a limpet, forcing Villarreal back against the cage.
Crowe stalling in the clinch but Villarreal improves position.
Villarreal goes for a takedown in the clinch but Crowe prevents it.
Villarreal scores with a nice hook to the head.

Crowe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Villarreal uses from the top position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Villarreal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crowe on the ground.
Villarreal tries to hold on but Crowe pushes him away.

Crowe is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Crowe avoids a punch combination nicely.

Crowe shoots in and bounces Villarreal off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Villarreal is trying to control but can't.
Villarreal is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Crowe is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Crowe decides to stand and escape the position.

Crowe shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Villarreal is breathing heavily.
Villarreal trying to control from the bottom.
Villarreal might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Crowe tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Villarreal.

Crowe wants to work for an arm triangle but Villarreal is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Villarreal pushes Crowe off looking to stand but Crowe dives back in and keeps control.
Crowe is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Crowe dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Villarreal shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crowe as he jumps to the side.

Crowe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Villarreal's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Crowe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Villarreal has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Crowe has managed to get both his arms back between Villarreal's legs - danger averted.
Crowe stands and throws Villarreal's legs to the side, diving into side control.
David Crowe has got the better of the ground game so far.
Villarreal throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Crowe has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Crowe shoots in and gets a takedown into Villarreal's guard.

Villarreal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Crowe wants to stand but Villarreal has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Crowe wants to control from the top but Villarreal keeps moving.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Crowe. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Crowe is thwarting Villarreal's attempts to control the position.

Crowe decides to return to a standing position.

Crowe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Crowe lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Villarreal is looking for a triangle but Crowe pushes his legs off easily.

Crowe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Crowe escapes and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Villarreal lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Crowe circles away quickly and effectively.
Crowe pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Crowe drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Crowe tries for a kimura but Villarreal is defending well.
Villarreal gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Villarreal is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Villarreal rolls, trying to escape but Crowe keeps control of the position.
Villarreal looking very determined here, making life difficult for Crowe.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Villarreal has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Crowe.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Crowe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Villarreal isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Crowe stacks Villarreal on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Crowe!

Crowe is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Villarreal is trying to escape and Crowe transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Villarreal is forced to tap! Nice work there by Crowe! Very nice indeed!
