PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Jensen!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jensen wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance.
Jensen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Williams.
Jensen tries to clinch but Williams moves out of range.
Williams dives in and grabs Jensen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jensen pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.
Williams feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jensen's calf.
Left hook, right uppercut from Jensen.

Jensen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jensen showed some decent athleticism there.
Williams is not content to let Jensen control the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jensen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Williams is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jensen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jensen wants to stand but Williams has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Williams might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jensen works his way into full mount!

Jensen stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Jensen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.
Jensen shoots in for a takedown but Williams shows good takedown defense.

Williams forces Jensen back against the cage and clinches.
Williams goes for a takedown attempt but Jensen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jensen throws a right and a left that both miss.

Williams clinches with his opponent.
Jensen is looking to control Williams's arms but Williams gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jensen has his back to the cage.
Williams using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jensen has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Williams jumps guard but Jensen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Jensen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Williams.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jensen fails to pull guard.
Williams can't get the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Williams pulls guard successfully.
Jensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jensen looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Jensen throwing strikes but missing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jensen wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Adam Jensen wasn't active enough on the ground.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but Jensen shows good takedown defense.

Jensen clinches.
Jensen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Williams pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jensen tries for a takedown. No joy.

Williams escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jensen goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Jensen tries to clinch up
and Williams counters with a flying knee. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Jensen dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Horrible takedown by Jensen or perhaps it was just good defense by Williams which made him look bad.

Williams scores with a takedown into Jensen's guard.
Williams looking to sit in guard and control but Jensen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jensen stopping the sweep attempt from Williams.
Jensen trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.

Williams is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Williams on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Williams tries to get out of the position.

Williams working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jensen.
Williams is looking to stand up but Jensen isn't so interested in that idea.
Williams has a closed guard, preventing Jensen from standing up.
Jensen trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
Jensen is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Williams is striking but Jensen is not phased and passes to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jensen sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Williams wants to get back to full guard.
Jensen moves nicely into side control.

Jensen tries for a kimura but Williams is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams is not content to let Jensen control the position.

Jensen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Adam Jensen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Williams tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jensen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jensen trying to control the action but Williams is working from the bottom.
Williams tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Jensen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Jensen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jensen tries to clinch but Williams moves out of range.

Williams moves into the clinch.
Jensen trying to control the position but instead, Williams has worked for underhooks and has pushed Jensen into the cage.
Williams drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jensen pulls his leg out and moves away.

Williams clinches.
Jensen is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Jensen is trying to drag Williams to the mat but Williams just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Williams takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Williams is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jensen to keep the fight standing.

Williams breaks the clinch.
Williams misses with a two punch combination.
Jensen throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Williams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Williams circles away from the clinch attempt
and Williams counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jensen is lucky that one didn't land flush.


Jensen is rocked!

Williams gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jensen to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jensen trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams managing to control the position.
Jensen passes Williams's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Williams trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Jensen manages to pass to mount!
Williams is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams tries to buck Jensen off but he can't manage it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jensen with shots to the head and body - Williams looks very uncomfortable down there.
Jensen tries to control but Williams wriggling away.
Jensen has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Williams's face.
Jensen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jensen is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Williams is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Adam Jensen!
