Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Monkey D Luffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Josh Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luffy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cruz.
Jab, jab by Luffy - just one landing.


It looks like Josh Cruz has been cut.
A good leg kick by Luffy.

Cruz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Cruz seems to be working for a kimura but Luffy defends the submission attempt.

Cruz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Cruz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Luffy knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Cruz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Luffy defends it well.
Cruz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cruz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Cruz is looking for a kimura but Luffy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cruz to get the leverage.

Luffy looking for submissions off his back.
Cruz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Luffy has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Cruz is persistently looking for the submission but Luffy is defending it well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cruz is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Luffy has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Cruz has his arm under Luffy's chin here. Game over son! Cruz squeezes tightly and Luffy is forced to tap out!

Josh Cruz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
