The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails to land the takedown.
Trenholm throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Smith tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Trenholm is in Smith's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith looks winded!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Trenholm's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Trenholm wanted to stand there but Smith had control of the position.
Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Trenholm.
Smith pushes a forearm under Trenholm's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Trenholm is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
