PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Troy McLure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Tripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLure's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Simpsons Theme Song. Tripper is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Disturbed - Land Of Confusion. On his way into the cage it seems that Troy McLure has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Troy McLure seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Troy McLure!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Tripper!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Tripper, right into the meat.
Tripper circles away from the clinch attempt.
McLure avoids the body shot from Tripper.
Tripper lands a leg kick that knocks McLure off balance momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tripper. McLure does a little dance to reset his feet.
Tripper tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Tripper connects with the punch.
The fighters circle momentarily. McLure darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

McLure drives through and clinches with Tripper against the cage.

McLure swings away with an uppercut that misses.
McLure lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Tripper backwards.
Tripper misses with a punch to the body.
Tripper blocks an elbow strike from McLure.

McLure misses with an elbow strike.

Tripper swings wildly with an uppercut but McLure uses good head movement to avoid it.
McLure content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Our sources have told us that McLure has been working on his elbows in the gym.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Tripper has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

With the fighters up against the cage, McLure throws an elbow but misses.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Tripper throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

McLure moves into range and clinches up with Tripper.

McLure tries to throw a body punch but Tripper avoids it by throwing McLure back against the cage.

McLure gets caught flat footed, as Tripper shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Tripper is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
McLure knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tripper on the ground.

Tripper tries to move to mount but McLure blocks the move with his legs.

Tripper is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt McLure will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McLure takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Tripper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McLure fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tripper manages to avoid it.
McLure tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tripper swats him away and circles back towards the center.

McLure doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

This has been an exciting period of action!
McLure wants to clinch up but Tripper keeps it at a distance.
Tripper stuffs the takedown attempt from McLure. McLure gets slowly back to his feet.
McLure connects with a high kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McLure throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McLure tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tripper swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McLure takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

McLure on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Tripper. Tripper obviously looking to wear him down.
Tripper scores with a crisp jab that stopped McLure in his tracks.


Troy McLure's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
McLure blocks the body kick.

Tripper drops McLure with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but McLure looks back up at him and smiles so Tripper waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


McLure is rocked!


Jeez, Troy McLure's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tripper lands an uppercut, right on the button! McLure tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Tripper!
Jack Tripper spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
Troy McLure spoke after the fight, saying '"Duff Man... says a lot of things! Oh, yeah!"'.
