PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Gionet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boreas Notus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gionet comes to the ring accompanied by "All The Same" by Sick Puppies. Notus has chosen Bloc Party- Blue Light as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Gionet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Boreas Notus!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gionet motions for Notus to come forward. Gionet throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Gionet tries to close the distance and clinch up but Notus swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gionet tries to clinch but Notus moves out of range.
Notus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gionet wants to clinch.
Notus should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Gionet darts in and clinches Notus up against the ropes.
Gionet landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Gionet comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

It looks like Boreas Notus has been cut.

Notus misses with a takedown attempt - Gionet sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The referee warns Notus that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gionet tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Notus shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The fight stays on the outside here - Gionet looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Notus is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Gionet knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Notus on the ground.
Notus is looking to take a break and control but Gionet is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Notus looking to break Gionet's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Gionet remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Notus will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Despite being in the dominant position, Boreas Notus just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown by Notus or perhaps it was just good defense by Gionet which made him look bad.

Gionet wants to clinch
and Notus counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gionet thinking.
Gionet slips a jab and a cross from Notus.

and Notus counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Notus lands a head kick. Gionet smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Notus seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Gionet is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
