Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Noob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jake Noob has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Noob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jay Jones!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Jones tries to sprawl but Noob drives through with a takedown into half guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We're going to have a standup here because Jake Noob wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Noob connects with a nice looking jab.
Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jay Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Noob misses with a hook.
Jones takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Noob throws a hook but Jones blocks it.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Noob.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Noob throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jones sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Jones counters with a slapping leg kick.

Noob has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Jones is trying to keep an underhook but Noob manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Jones is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Noob's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Noob's back!
I really don't envy Noob right now.
Jones keeps control of the position easily here as Noob tries to buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Noob shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Noob was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Noob wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
A bit of a lull in the action here.

Jones is looking to regain half guard here but Noob keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Noob misses with a low kick as Jones jumps back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Jones is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jake Noob wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Noob looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range.
Noob throws a good cross that connects.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Noob thows a body shot but no joy.
Noob darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Noob shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Noob is just content to waste time from the top position. Jones takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Noob fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
Jake Noob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones gets caught napping as Noob dives in and scores a takedown. Jones manages to retain guard.
Jake Noob overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Jones in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

Noob has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jake Noob just wasn't active enough.
Noob tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jones is able to avoid easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Noob shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Noob takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Jones doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Noob showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Noob, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
