PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Duke Nukem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mack Luster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Francis DeMontford.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nukem shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Luster but Luster pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Luster goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Nukem shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Nukem seems to be working for a kimura but Luster defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Nukem is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Luster works his way to full guard. Good work.

Nukem wants to control from the top but Luster keeps moving.
Nukem throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Luster works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Nukem trying to control the position from guard on top but Luster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nukem tries to free his leg and advance position but Luster is retaining full guard.
Nukem throws an elbow that misses. Luster uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nukem's guard. Nice move by Luster!
Luster must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nukem wants to sweep but no luck.
Nukem controls Luster momentarily but Luster frees himself.

Nukem is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Luster defends well.

Nukem is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Luster is controlling him.
Nukem doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Nukem working for a triangle but Luster defends it easily.

Nukem escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Luster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Luster wants to get up but he can't break Nukem's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Nukem is looking for a triangle but Luster pushes his legs off easily.

Luster avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Luster got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nukem has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Luster has managed to get both his arms back between Nukem's legs - danger averted.

Nukem escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Luster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nukem wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Luster manages to pass to side control.

Luster gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Nukem shoots for a takedown but Luster saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Luster lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nukem shoots in but Luster avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duke Nukem. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Luster lands a nice shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A chopping leg kick lands by Luster.
Luster throws a lazy uppercut
and Nukem counters with a three punch combo that has Luster backing up. Luster nods at Nukem to acknowledge the strikes.
Luster stuffs the takedown.
Luster bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nukem's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duke Nukem dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Nukem shoots in for a takedown but Luster shows good takedown defense.
Nukem dives in for a single leg takedown but Luster sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Luster lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Luster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nukem fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duke Nukem. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nukem shoots in for a double leg but Luster sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Luster lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A jab lands there for Luster.
Luster scores with a nice strike.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nukem.
Luster connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Mack Luster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Luster lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Luster throws a quick inside leg kick.

Luster misses with an attempted mid kick.
Luster lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nukem at a distance.
Luster pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Nukem back to the cage. Luster follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Luster leaves Nukem with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nukem throws a shot from downtown. Luster moves away and avoids it.
A lazy left from Luster finds it's target.
Luster moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nukem misses with a takedown attempt - Luster sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Luster sends Nukem crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Luster is motioning to the referee to let Nukem up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Nukem is rocked!

Nukem on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Luster. Luster obviously looking to wear him down.
A low kick from Luster is predictable there
and Nukem makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Oh Nukem is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Luster lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Nukem seems to have got his legs back now.
Nukem scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Luster doesn't seem bothered though.
Nukem fails with the takedown
and Luster counters with a good, hard body kick but Nukem shrugs it off.
Both fighters circling a little - Luster finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Luster lands a big right hand that sends Nukem crashing to the mat! Luster stays standing though and waves Nukem back to his feet!
Luster circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Nukem to the canvas! Nukem doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Luster keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
