Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Billy Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Merengue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merengue comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Flood of Red - Dont Sleep, Swim. kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mike Merengue will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merengue stuffs the takedown.
Smith blocks a head kick by Merengue.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Merengue gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Smith pushing down on Merengue's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Merengue is trying to control but can't.
Merengue is doing well to control the position and prevent Smith from advancing to side control.
Smith tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Smith trying to control the pace.
Smith wants to pass to mount but Merengue is defending the position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Merengue manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Smith wants to stand and escape but instead Merengue has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Smith is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Smith wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith is trying to break the clinch but Merengue has him pressed against the cage.

Merengue pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Merengue throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Smith stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Merengue follows into mount!

It looks like Billy Smith has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith tries to hold on but Merengue postures up.
Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.
Smith is wriggling around trying to escape.
Merengue can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smith is looking to escape.

Merengue controlling the pace for now.
Smith is squirming around, avoiding Merengue's attempts to control the action.
Smith is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith tries to hold on but Merengue pushes him away.
Merengue controlling the pace for now.
Merengue looking to control but Smith is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Mike Merengue dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Billy Smith's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mike Merengue just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Merengue.

A head kick lands from Merengue that sends Smith to the canvas. Smith tries to scramble back to his feet but Merengue brings him back down into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Merengue stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Merengue, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Merengue against the cage but Merengue circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Merengue! Smith is out on his feet! Merengue rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Smith is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Smith is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
