Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francisco Ortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Condit!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Condit clinches up with Ortiz and pushes him back against the cage.
Condit manages to break the clinch.
Condit throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ortiz counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Condit thinking.
Condit shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ortiz is trying to defend but Condit finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ortiz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Ortiz is looking for a sweep. Condit is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ortiz is in trouble now - Condit has advanced to mount!
Condit has control of Ortiz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ortiz regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Condit lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ortiz hang on?
Ortiz gets back to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ortiz punching from the bottom.
Ortiz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Condit is working away from the top position though.
Condit works his way into full mount!
Ortiz is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Condit raining down shots from the mount!
Condit is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ortiz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Condit throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Condit throwing strikes here but Ortiz is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Ortiz is trying desperately to improve position.
Condit working the ground and pound effectively.
It looks like Francisco Ortiz has been cut.
Ortiz tries to hold on but Condit pushes him away.
Condit postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Ortiz bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Condit and the fight is over!
