Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Charleston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexsandr Slemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slemenko has chosen Небо Славян as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Charleston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexsandr Slemenko!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charleston closes the distance but Slemenko moves to the side

and Slemenko counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Slemenko.

Charleston gets control of Slemenko's arms and successfully pulls guard. Charleston will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Charleston is looking to stand up but Slemenko isn't so interested in that idea.
Charleston trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

and Slemenko counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Charleston's guard now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Alexsandr Slemenko hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Charleston throws a lazy head kick

and Slemenko counters with a single leg into guard. Charleston didn't expect that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Charleston wants to get back to his feet but Slemenko is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Alexsandr Slemenko has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Charleston throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Let's hope that Slemenko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
