The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boehm gets a takedown into half guard.
Horwood Jr is looking to improve his position.
Horwood Jr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Boehm's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Boehm's back!

Horwood Jr is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Boehm defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boehm rolls, trying to escape but Horwood Jr keeps control of the position.

Horwood Jr is looking for a rear naked choke here but Boehm reverses the position brilliantly into Horwood Jr's guard!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boehm accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Horwood Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boehm can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Boehm is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We're going to have a standup here because Tomoya Boehm wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Boehm fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A nice inside leg kick there by Boehm. That's going to slow Horwood Jr down.

A frustrated look appears on Boehm's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Horwood Jr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Boehm is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Horwood Jr is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Boehm.

Boehm looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Boehm has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Horwood Jr uses from the top position.
