Nogueira comes into the arena with Nogueira PRIDE entrance blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pigano scores with a nice body kick.
Pigano swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Nogueira connects with a right hand. Pigano shakes it off.

Nogueira clinches up against the cage.
Nogueira lands with a light punch inside.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Nogueira.
Pigano tries a body shot but Nogueira blocks it.
Pigano misses with the head strike.

Nogueira lands a takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Pigano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nogueira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nogueira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pigano swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pigano can do anything to dispel that myth.

Thiago Nogueira has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Nogueira closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Nogueira takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Pigano avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Nogueira, as that shot connected.

Nogueira closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pigano tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Nogueira pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nogueira misses with a straight left.
Pigano throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Pigano lands a nice leg kick that just misses Nogueira's sensitive parts.
Pauly Pigano is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nogueira misses with a looping left.
A telegraphed right hand from Nogueira misses the target.
Nogueira throws a shot to the body.
Nogueira scores with a jab. Pigano acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Pigano leaves Nogueira with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pigano throws a quick inside leg kick.

Nogueira clinches up with Pigano and pushes him back against the cage.
Nogueira lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Nogueira trying to keep a closed guard but Pigano is proving a slippery customer.
We've been hearing good reports from Nogueira's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Nogueira is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Pigano frees his head nicely. Oh but Nogueira has switched to an armbar! Pigano is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
