Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Xavier!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valdez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Xavier.
Xavier shoots in and drives through. Valdez sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Xavier or perhaps it was just good defense by Valdez which made him look bad.
Deon Valdez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Xavier.
Xavier tries to score a power double leg takedown but Valdez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Xavier somewhat.

Valdez drives through with a takedown into Xavier's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Xavier can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Valdez controls the pace.

Valdez is looking to take a break and control but Xavier is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Valdez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Valdez wants to pass the guard but Xavier is keeping the position.

Valdez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Xavier wants to get back to his feet but Valdez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Xavier working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Valdez.
Valdez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Xavier has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Xavier forces Valdez back against the cage and clinches.
Valdez is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Xavier to keep the fight standing.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Xavier is working Valdez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Xavier looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Valdez is fending him off so far but Xavier persists. Nope, Valdez circles away and we're back to standing.

Deon Valdez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Valdez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Valdez throws an elbow that misses. Xavier uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Valdez's guard. Nice move by Xavier!

Valdez is looking to cinch up a triangle. Xavier throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Valdez's body to avoid the submission. Valdez has instead reached around Xavier's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Valdez arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
