The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magalona moves in looking to clinch but Emerson pushes him off.
Magalona tries to clinch but Emerson moves out of range.
Emerson swings for the body but Magalona moves out of range.
Emerson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Magalona was well out of range. Poor timing from Emerson.
Magalona connects with a leg kick. Emerson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Emerson drives through with a takedown into Magalona's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Emerson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Emerson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Magalona connects with a high kick.

It looks like Sam Emerson has been cut.
Magalona moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Magalona. Emerson shrugs it off though.

Magalona lands a big head kick that sends Emerson tumbling to the mat! Magalona takes a step backwards and waves Emerson back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Edward Magalona seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whack! Magalona lands a heavy head kick that drops Emerson. The ref tackles Magalona to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Emerson was done.
