Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jadyson Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joanna Piechocka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jadyson Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joanna Piechocka!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
An inside leg kick from Piechocka misses.
Piechocka defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Costa.
Sloppy strikes from Piechocka. Those never looked like landing.
Piechocka lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Piechocka shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Piechocka was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Piechocka tries to score with some ground and pound. Costa controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Costa is looking to regain half guard here but Piechocka keeps moving and retains side control.

Piechocka working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Costa tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Piechocka wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Costa tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Costa tries to lock up and control but Piechocka gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Costa tries to improve his position but instead Piechocka has taken his back!
Piechocka lands with a hammerfist to the side of Costa's head.
Costa manages to reverse the position and now he's in Piechocka's guard. Nice work there by Costa.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Piechocka is looking for a sweep.

Costa controls the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Costa is looking to take a break and control but Piechocka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Piechocka tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Costa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Costa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Piechocka knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've been informed that Piechocka has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Piechocka is looking for a sweep.

Costa tries to advance to mount but Piechocka denies him.
Piechocka is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Costa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Piechocka knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Jadyson Costa will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Piechocka tries for a takedown but Costa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Costa tries to clinch there but Piechocka circles away.
Costa doesn't manage to clinch there - Piechocka circles away.
Costa fails to land the takedown.
Costa needs to keep his hands up - Piechocka had a free shot at his head there.

Piechocka closes the distance and pushes Costa back into the cage.
Piechocka is trying to pull guard but Costa turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Piechocka creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Costa is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Piechocka is defending well.
Piechocka unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Piechocka dodges an elbow strike from Costa.

Piechocka escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Costa lands a nice shot to the body.
Piechocka goes for a double leg but Costa avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Costa continues to drive forward.

Piechocka breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Costa lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Costa.
Costa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Piechocka but Piechocka pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Costa doesn't manage to clinch there - Piechocka circles away.
Costa closes the distance and clinches up with Piechocka, looking for a takedown. Costa pushes Piechocka against the cage but Piechocka circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A slapping body kick lands there for Piechocka.
Costa dives in for a single leg takedown but Piechocka sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Costa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Piechocka is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Piechocka gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Costa.

Piechocka drops down looking for an ankle pick but Costa pulls his leg out and moves away.
Piechocka misses with a takedown attempt - Costa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Piechocka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Piechocka keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Costa wants to get up but he can't break Piechocka's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Costa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Costa working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Costa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Costa wants to take a breather but Piechocka manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Costa.

Piechocka stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Piechocka wants it to stay on the feet.
Costa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Piechocka avoids it really well and circles away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Piechocka misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Jadyson Costa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Costa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Piechocka pinned against the cage. Piechocka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Costa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
