PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Merritt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adam Jensen!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jensen feints and as Merritt raises his hands in defense, Jensen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jensen trying to control but Merritt is working from the bottom.
Merritt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Merritt throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jensen escapes and throws Merritt's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Merritt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jensen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Jensen tries to stand but Merritt is controlling his head.
Merritt takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jensen is looking to take a break and control but Merritt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Merritt is trying to work for a sweep but Jensen has mounted him!
Merritt can't escape the position.
Jensen lands a big elbow.
Jensen raining down shots from the mount!
Merritt keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Merritt is working hard here to advance position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jensen punishing his opponent with strikes.
Merritt is squirming around, avoiding Jensen's attempts to control the action.
Merritt throwing punches despite being mounted.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jensen is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Merritt can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Jensen prevents Merritt from getting the reversal.
Jensen trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jensen manages to capitalize on a mistake by Merritt to take his back!
Jensen keeps control of the position as Merritt tries to break free.
Jensen wants to control but Merritt is keeping busy.
Jensen is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Jensen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jensen is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Merritt is defending well though. Jensen let's go of the attempt for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jensen has the hooks in. Merritt is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Jensen tries to get the hooks in deep but Merritt pushed the leg off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Merritt is trying to remain composed but Jensen is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Merritt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A combination from Jensen does no damage.

Jensen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Merritt tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jensen is in Merritt's guard.

Merritt has a hand on Jensen's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Jensen takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Jensen seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Merritt is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
