Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ace Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Marks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ace Johnson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ace Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Marks!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Topper Green and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marks tries to clinch up.
Marks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Johnson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Johnson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Marks has closed the distance and engaged Johnson in a clinch.
Johnson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Marks.
Johnson managing to block the knees to the body from Marks.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Marks shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Marks is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson is looking for a sweep. Marks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Johnson punching from the bottom.
Johnson wants to get back to his feet.
Johnson is not content to let Marks control the position.
Johnson wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marks is nestled in close to Johnson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marks is looking to advance position but Johnson won't allow it.
Marks missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Marks is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson is doing well to control the position and prevent Marks from advancing to side control.
Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marks is working away from the top position though.
Johnson has his hands clasped together around Marks's back. He's all about the action.

Marks is trying to work for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.
Johnson is trying to stand back up but Marks is controlling him
Marks throwing shots but Johnson is blocking nicely.
Marks wants to take a breather but Johnson is having none of it.
Marks not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Marks is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Marks is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Marks to get the leverage.
Johnson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Marks is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Marks eventually gives up the hold.
Marks tries to pass the half guard into mount. Johnson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson is pressing down on Marks's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Marks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Marks isn't so interested in that idea.
Johnson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marks scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Marks working his ground and pound in the gym.
Marks throwing strikes but missing.
Marks trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cain Marks will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Marks gets a clinch.
Marks is working for takedown but Johnson is calmly controlling the position for now.
Johnson is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Johnson breaks the clinch.
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Marks tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it.
Johnson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Marks manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Marks moves into the clinch.
Marks is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ace Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Marks.
Marks lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Johnson backwards.

Johnson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Marks has Johnson pressed against the cage, preventing Johnson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Marks is looking for a takedown.
Johnson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marks pulls his leg out and moves away.
Marks misses with a straight right.
Johnson shoots in and drives through. Marks sprawls well.
Marks throws an off balance right hand
and Johnson counters with a one-two to the body.


It looks like Cain Marks has been cut.

Marks slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Marks moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.
Ace Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Marks throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Johnson lands a right hook to the body.
Marks shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
Marks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
Horrible takedown by Marks or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad.
Marks misses with a lunging right hand
and Johnson counters with a nice uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Marks has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Johnson takes a jab right on the kisser.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marks closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.
Marks takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Marks against the cage.
Johnson digs a right hand into Marks's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Marks's gas tank.

Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A left and a right from Johnson both land. Nice combination.
Marks lands a head shot.
A right-left combo lands from Johnson.
Marks shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Johnson throws a combination. Marks tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Johnson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Marks backs up against the cage.
Johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Marks.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Marks.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Marks sprawls well. Marks wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

Marks clinches with his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ace Johnson dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Cain Marks's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Marks shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Johnson connects with a crisp jab.
Ace Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A right-left combo lands from Johnson.
Johnson scores with a nice strike.
Marks fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnson throws a series of strikes that have Marks backpedaling.
Johnson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Marks wants to clinch.
Marks closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Marks pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ace Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Marks.

Marks ducks right into an uppercut from Johnson.
Nice sprawl there from Marks as Johnson shoots in.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Marks paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Johnson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Johnson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Marks leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Marks bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marks lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.

Marks instigates a clinch.
Johnson is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Marks breaks from the clinch.
Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Marks is defended easily by Johnson.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johnson misses with a body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Marks throws a head kick that misses.
Johnson tries to clinch but Marks moves away

and Marks counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that.
Marks works over Johnson with some ground and pound from guard.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Marks isn't so interested in that idea.
Marks with a nice head shot there.
Johnson trying to keep a closed guard but Marks is proving a slippery customer.
Marks trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Marks stops Johnson from standing up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marks cracks Johnson with a solid left hand.
Johnson wants to stand but Marks is controlling the position.

Marks is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Marks with a flurry of punches that miss.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Cain Marks.
I think Marks has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
