Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travis Sheppard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Davis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Sheppard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Davis!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sheppard moves into the clinch.

Davis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sheppard clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Sheppard is trapped and Davis is scoring with shots to the head and body.


It looks like Travis Sheppard has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A lull in the action here.
Davis is hanging on to Sheppard's back as he tries to escape.
Sheppard is trying to remain composed but Davis is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Davis tries to get the hooks in deep but Sheppard pushed the leg off.
Davis is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Davis. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Sheppard is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Davis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sheppard defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Davis's arms.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Sheppard rolls, trying to escape but Davis keeps control of the position.
Sheppard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Davis's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Davis tries to keep control of the position but Sheppard is staying busy.
Davis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sheppard haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sheppard is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Davis gets his way!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Sheppard is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Sheppard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Davis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sheppard wants to sweep but no luck.
Sheppard striking off his back but it's not causing Davis any problems.
Davis trying to control but Sheppard is working from the bottom.
Sheppard has a closed guard, preventing Davis from standing up.
Sheppard is trying to keep Davis in close.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Davis works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Davis is pressing down on Sheppard's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sheppard is holding on for now.
Sheppard is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Davis scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sheppard is staying active underneath Davis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sheppard tries to get to full guard but Davis has control of the leg.

Davis seems to be looking for submissions.

Davis wants to stand but Sheppard has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Sheppard is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Sheppard wants to get back to his feet.

Davis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sheppard on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Davis tries to free his leg and advance position but Sheppard is retaining full guard.

Davis wants to stand but Sheppard is controlling his posture from full guard.

Sheppard has a closed guard, preventing Davis from standing up.
Sheppard wants to sweep but no luck.
Davis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Davis wants to control from the top but Sheppard keeps moving.
Davis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Davis.
Davis closes the distance looking to clinch

and Sheppard counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sheppard.

Davis has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sheppard regains guard immediately.
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Sheppard backs away from a small jab... but Davis lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Sheppard crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Davis with a spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). James Davis!
