Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seijuro Akashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelyanenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Seijuro Akashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fedor Emelyanenko!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akashi misses with a head kick.

Akashi drives through with a takedown into Emelyanenko's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Akashi trying to stand up but can't free himself from Emelyanenko's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akashi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Akashi wants to stand but Emelyanenko is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Seijuro Akashi just wasn't active enough.
Akashi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Akashi tries to clinch but Emelyanenko is having none of it.

Akashi throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Emelyanenko tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Akashi is in Emelyanenko's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Akashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emelyanenko swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Akashi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Akashi lands a couple of elbows.
Akashi trying to control but Emelyanenko is working from the bottom.
Akashi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Emelyanenko works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Akashi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Akashi seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Akashi is looking to take a break and control but Emelyanenko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Akashi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Emelyanenko!

Emelyanenko is trying desperately to improve position.
Akashi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Emelyanenko is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seijuro Akashi dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Akashi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nice takedown defense from Emelyanenko. No joy for Akashi on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Akashi moves into range and clinches up with Emelyanenko.
Akashi stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Emelyanenko fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Akashi slows down the pace here.
Akashi blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Emelyanenko tightens his grip and picks Akashi up, before dumping him to the ground. Akashi manages to land in guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Akashi doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Akashi trying to keep a closed guard but Emelyanenko is proving a slippery customer.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Fedor Emelyanenko hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Akashi closes the distance and clinches up with Emelyanenko, looking for a takedown. Akashi pushes Emelyanenko against the cage but Emelyanenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Emelyanenko avoids a kick to the body.
Akashi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Emelyanenko as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seijuro Akashi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Akashi throws a head kick but Emelyanenko moves out of range.

and Emelyanenko counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Emelyanenko.

Emelyanenko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fedor Emelyanenko has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Akashi looks for a takedown but Emelyanenko sprawls well.
Akashi misses with a kick to the body.
Akashi looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Emelyanenko keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Akashi fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Fedor Emelyanenko will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Emelyanenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Akashi's guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Emelyanenko wants to control from the top but Akashi keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Akashi wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Fedor Emelyanenko was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A looping hook to the body misses from Akashi. Emelyanenko does a little dance to reset his feet.
Akashi tries to close the distance and clinch but Emelyanenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Emelyanenko wants to control but Akashi is keeping him busy.

Emelyanenko has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Akashi!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Akashi is in all sorts of trouble here.
Emelyanenko tries to control but Akashi wriggling away.
Akashi wants to control but Emelyanenko is having none of it.
Akashi tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Emelyanenko controlling the pace for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Akashi tries to hold on but Emelyanenko postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fedor Emelyanenko wasn't active enough on the ground.
Akashi throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Emelyanenko counters with a slapping leg kick.
Some bone on bone action there as Emelyanenko checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fedor Emelyanenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Emelyanenko has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
