Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bill Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Mullen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Butler!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butler punishes Mullen's body with a nice straight punch.
Mullen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mullen is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Butler.


It looks like Bill Mullen has been cut.
Sloppy strikes from Butler. Those never looked like landing.

Butler clinches up with Mullen and pushes him back against the cage.
Mullen stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A head punch on the inside from Butler fails to land.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Butler continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Butler has clasped his hands together around Mullen's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Butler misses with the ground and pound.
Butler trying to control the action but Mullen is working from the bottom.
Mullen wants to control but Butler postures up.
Mullen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mullen is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Mullen is looking to reverse the position.
Mullen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Butler's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Butler wants to take a breather but Mullen is having none of it.
Mullen throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mullen tries to get to full guard but Butler has control of the leg.
Butler prevents Mullen from standing back up.
Mullen gets back to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mullen pushes Butler off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Mullen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Butler shoots in and bounces Mullen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mullen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Butler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mullen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mullen landing strikes from the mount.
The referee warns Butler that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Mullen wants to control the pace but Butler is squirming around nicely.
Mullen fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mullen wants to control the pace but Butler is squirming around nicely.
Mullen in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Mullen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mullen controlling the pace for now.
Mullen cracks Butler with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

BOOM! Mullen connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mullen looking to control but Butler is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mullen landing strikes, looking to finish!
A nice elbow there by Mullen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Mullen dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bill Mullen's cut.
That's time! Mullen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Butler feints and as Mullen raises his hands in defense, Butler changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mullen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Butler off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Butler throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mullen was covering up waiting for the punch and Butler finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Butler's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mullen trying to keep a closed guard but Butler is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butler being controlled here momentarily.
Butler trying to control the position from guard on top but Mullen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Butler drives through with a takedown into guard.
Butler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mullen wants to get back to his feet but Butler is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Butler passes into half guard.
Mullen is pressing down on Butler's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mullen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Butler gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Butler wanted to stand there but Mullen had control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mullen looking for a triangle here. Butler is fighting it but it looks tight! Mullen pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Butler is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Bill Mullen!
