PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raymon Strong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cacio Aristides (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cacio Aristides told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raymon Strong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cacio Aristides!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ron Honeybunn and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aristides shoots in looking for a takedown. Strong tries to sprawl out of it but Aristides keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Strong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Aristides closes the distance and pushes Strong back into the cage.

Strong pulls Aristides into guard.
Aristides loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Aristides's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

It looks like Raymon Strong has been cut.
Strong working a defensive guard here.
Aristides tries to free his leg and advance position but Strong is retaining full guard.
Strong has a closed guard, preventing Aristides from standing up.
Aristides is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Aristides stands up over Strong, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Aristides tries to free his leg and advance position but Strong is retaining full guard.
Aristides throws a big elbow that misses.
Aristides trying to control but Strong is working from the bottom.
Aristides has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Aristides trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Aristides slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cacio Aristides was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Strong moves into the clinch.
Strong is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Strong has had enough of the clinch but Aristides keeps him there for the moment.
Strong has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Strong.

Strong is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Aristides can't fight it off and eventually Strong manages to take the fight to the floor. Aristides looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Strong would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aristides is on top in guard.
Aristides wants to stand but Strong has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Aristides is looking to work some ground and pound but Strong has wrist control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Strong is trying to control the position but Aristides postures up.
Strong has his hands on Aristides's head, controlling the position.
Aristides postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Aristides wants to get up but he can't break Strong's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Strong can't keep his opponent in guard - Aristides advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Aristides wants to control but Strong is keeping him busy.
Aristides winds up and cracks Strong with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Aristides is nestled in close to Strong, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Raymon Strong's cut is getting worse.
Aristides slows the pace down in half guard.
Aristides drops an elbow to the side of Strong's head.

Strong is rocked!
Aristides scores with a big shot! Strong's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Strong! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
