The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've been informed that Burkam has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Phoenix throws a head kick that misses.
Phoenix scores with a head kick. Burkam tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Phoenix jabs Burkam right on the nose. Burkam blinks but takes it well.

Phoenix paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Donk. Phoenix catches Burkam right on the button with a cross.
Phoenix throws a right and a left that both miss.

Burkam has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Phoenix uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Burkam has time to react.

Burkam changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Phoenix tries to avoid it but Burkam manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Phoenix to the ground. Phoenix escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Simon Phoenix has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Burkam.
Burkam takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Phoenix connects with a leg kick. Burkam looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Phoenix lands with a straight right. Burkam didn't see that one coming.
Burkam takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The cut above Bob Burkam's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Phoenix is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Burkam's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Phoenix connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Burkam scrambles back to his feet.
Burkam uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Phoenix .

Phoenix lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Phoenix throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Burkam stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Burkam drives through with a takedown into Phoenix 's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Phoenix manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Bob Burkam's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Phoenix lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Burkam falls backwards - clearly groggy! Phoenix dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
