Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erkki Heimolainen!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santiago closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Heimolainen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Santiago is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Heimolainen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Heimolainen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Heimolainen wants to improve his position but Santiago is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santiago is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Santiago works his way into side control.
Heimolainen is looking for a sweep.
Santiago wants to lay and pray for a moment but Heimolainen keeps working.

Santiago tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santiago has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Santiago wants to control but Heimolainen is keeping him busy.

Heimolainen gets back to half guard.

Santiago is looking for a kimura here.
Heimolainen is looking for a sweep. Santiago is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Santiago wants to control but Heimolainen is keeping him busy.
Santiago is pressing down on Heimolainen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Heimolainen is holding on for now.
Heimolainen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Santiago's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Santiago's back!

Santiago turns into Heimolainen and is now in his guard.
Heimolainen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Heimolainen looking for a sweep. Not yet Heimolainen, not yet.
Santiago looking to pass the guard.
Santiago trying to control the position from guard on top but Heimolainen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Heimolainen wants to sweep here but Santiago controlling him for the moment.
Heimolainen keeping moving, preventing Santiago from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Miguel Santiago wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Santiago needs to keep his hands up - Heimolainen had a free shot at his head there.

Santiago avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Santiago drives through with a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Heimolainen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Santiago is aware though and is defending well.
Heimolainen can't keep his opponent in guard - Santiago advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Heimolainen has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Santiago is in real trouble here. Heimolainen gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Santiago is tapping out! Heimolainen wins by rear naked choke!
