Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quick Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leif Carroll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quick Silver could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Leif Carroll's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Quick Silver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leif Carroll!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Ben Hemmingworth and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver with a poor takedown

and Carroll decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silver's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Silver working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Carroll.
Silver is pulling down on Carroll's head. It's preventing any offense from Carroll, at least for the moment.
Silver has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carroll prevents Silver from getting back to his feet.
Carroll lands a couple of elbows.
Carroll has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Silver pulls Carroll in close to prevent any damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Quick Silver has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Carroll has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silver is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Silver blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Carroll jumps into guard, dragging Silver to the mat.
Carroll wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Carroll should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Silver is fighting to break Carroll's control of his arms but Carroll is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Quick Silver.

Silver is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Carroll pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Leif Carroll dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Silver looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silver thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carroll's head.
Carroll works his way to full guard. Good work.
Silver is in close to Carroll's body, working some short punches and elbows.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Carroll holds on and takes a little breather.

Silver throws an elbow that misses. Carroll uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silver's guard. Nice move by Carroll!
Silver wants to stand and escape but Carroll is having none of it.

Silver is wriggling around but Carroll manages to pass to half guard.

Carroll is nestled in close to Silver, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Carroll wants to stand but Silver has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Silver wants to improve his position but Carroll is controlling well.
Carroll thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Silver's head.
Carroll looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Silver with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Carroll is looking to take a break and control but Silver is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Carroll seems to be working for a kimura but Silver defends the submission attempt.

Carroll wants to stand but Silver has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Silver manages to get to full guard.
Silver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carroll is fighting to break Silver's control of his arms but Silver is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Carroll is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Carroll wants to get up but he can't break Silver's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Silver pulls Carroll in close to his closed guard and prevents Carroll from doing any damage or advancing position.

Silver controls Carroll momentarily but Carroll frees himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Quick Silver wasn't doing enough on the ground.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Carroll working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Silver.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carroll wants to clinch up but Silver keeps it at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carroll bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Carroll connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Silver some visible discomfort.
Quick Silver has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Leif Carroll is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Carroll is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Silver's shoulder. That is not cool.

Leif Carroll comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Carroll winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
