Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Punisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sean Rodriguez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punisher misses with a wild body shot.

and Rodriguez counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Punisher jabs at Rodriguez's body.
Punisher throws a head kick but Rodriguez moves out of range.
Punisher fails with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Punisher shoots in but no luck this time.
Sean Rodriguez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drew Punisher.

Punisher closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rodriguez to the mat! Rodriguez manages to get full guard.
Rodriguez wants to sweep but no luck.
Punisher trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodriguez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Punisher on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Drew Punisher.
Punisher shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rodriguez sprawls well. Rodriguez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Punisher gets slowly back to his feet.
Punisher tries to clinch but Rodriguez moves out of range.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Punisher throws a head kick but Rodriguez moves out of range.
Rodriguez tries to clinch up but Punisher circles away and keeps his distance.

Punisher clinches.
Rodriguez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Punisher walks away with a smile on his face. Rodriguez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Punisher instigates a clinch.

Punisher successfully pulls guard.
Rodriguez is looking to stand up but Punisher won't let him.
Rodriguez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Punisher is adopting a defensive guard.

Punisher is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rodriguez is aware though and is defending well.

Punisher manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Rodriguez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Punisher is fending him off so far but Rodriguez persists. Nope, Punisher circles away and we're back to standing.

Punisher pushes Rodriguez up against the cage in a clinch.

Rodriguez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rodriguez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Punisher has gone for a leg lock! Rodriguez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Punisher's guard.

Punisher is pulling down on Rodriguez's head. It's preventing any offense from Rodriguez, at least for the moment.
Rodriguez wants to stand but Punisher is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rodriguez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rodriguez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Rodriguez counters with a nice body kick.

Rodriguez gets caught flat footed, as Punisher shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Punisher is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Drew Punisher was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Punisher fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Punisher has clasped his hands together around Rodriguez's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Punisher lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Rodriguez has given up his back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Punisher has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Rodriguez! Can he survive? No! He's out! Punisher gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
