Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kraig Benton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sasha Arshavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arshavin has chosen All about us as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kraig Benton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sasha Arshavin!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benton swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Arshavin.

Benton has closed the distance and engaged Arshavin in a clinch.
Arshavin misses with a body punch.
Benton fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Benton pulls Arshavin into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Benton controls Arshavin momentarily but Arshavin frees himself.
Benton wants to stand and escape but Arshavin is having none of it.
Arshavin wants to control from the top but Benton keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sasha Arshavin.
Benton has his takedown stuffed

and Arshavin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Arshavin.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Arshavin is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kraig Benton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Benton is trying to pull guard but Arshavin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Benton goes for a takedown attempt but Arshavin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Benton gets the takedown into side control.

Arshavin sneaks out the side door and pushes Benton away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Arshavin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Benton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Arshavin as he jumps to the side.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

and Arshavin counters by clinching up.
Benton is breathing heavily.

Arshavin jumps guard and drags Benton to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Arshavin controlling Benton's posture.
Benton sitting in guard, not really doing much.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arshavin is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Benton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Arshavin is wriggling around but Benton manages to pass to half guard.
Arshavin is looking for a sweep. Benton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Benton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Arshavin is just riding it out for now. Benton eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Arshavin tries to roll over but Benton keeps him under control.
Benton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Benton stops Arshavin from getting back to his feet.
Benton trying to control from half guard but Arshavin is working away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Benton gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Arshavin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Benton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kraig Benton dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Benton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Benton tries to stand but can't do so whilst Arshavin controls his leg.
Arshavin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Arshavin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Arshavin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Benton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Arshavin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Arshavin is breathing heavily.
Benton working the head and body with strikes.

Benton is trying for a kimura here. Arshavin looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Benton wins by kimura!

In defeat, Sasha Arshavin stepped up to the mic, saying 'I was not prepared enough. He was superior TODAY.'.
